Broken engine brace mount

After hearing a strange rattle coming from what sounded like the dashboard of my 2006 Z4 M I decided to explore this forum and others for possible causes.
The most common and easiest fault to diagnose seemed to be the torque settings on the engine brace mount (welded to the side of the suspension turrets) bolts.
Upon inspection I found that the entire mount had cracked on one side and the spot weld had failed on the other!!! Apparently this is a fairly common fault on all E85/E86 Z4's, not just the 'M'.
After a lot of deliberation and discussion with "car"friends I decided to book it in at Woods BMW in Salisbury. After a very quick discussion with the manager and a few snaps later, the wheels are in motion to get it repaired free of charge outside the warranty.
I am very pleased with the initial service of Woods, as I have become very sceptical of main dealers, especially when trying to make a claim on a 'modified' car. But if everything turns out as planned my failth may well be restored!
 
Good to hear that John. Down in Swindon, I've also found the main dealer to be excellent (Dick Lovett). They were fantastic with both my 3.0si Coupe and my Z4M (including once when we had it inspected!).

What mileage is it on now?

No not many, just being used as a weekend toy..although I plan to add a lot more this year on european blasts!
Any plans to replace the Audi??

Got my car back!
After a week of driving round in an E89 sdrive 2.0 turbo courtesy car, its great to get my M roadster back!
Cannot praise Woods of Salisbury enough, they have done a cracking job. They've provided me with photographic progress with the Certificate of repair and even dug out an original Z4M brochure for me.
The car is better than ever, rattle/vibration has gone and the car feels so solid and planted, cant believe the diffrence its made!
 
Mines done the same yet two dealers have refused warranty work as they claim it is body work. I have full extended warranty with a zero excess! Really cross now!

This has to be structual, not just bodywork. If its still under warranty I would try again.
 
I will- I went to sandal Huddersfield and sandal Wakefield! It's ridiculous- the part is broken, I asked how it was body work as the only basis could be was that it was attached to the body! :headbang:
 
It is a bit like last year a spate of Dealers trying to refuse Roof motor issues under AUC warranty
In end all those with a dodgy Dealer found one with the ability to correctly read the terms & conditions
and got the motor fixed :headbang:
