Broken engine brace bracket

After hearing a strange rattle coming from what sounded like the dashboard of my 2006 Z4 M I decided to explore this forum and others for possible causes.
The most common and easiest fault to diagnose seemed to be the torque settings on the engine brace mount (welded to the side of the suspension turrets) bolts.
Upon inspection I found that the entire mount had cracked on one side and the spot weld had failed on the other!!! Apparently this is a fairly common fault on all E85/E86 Z4's, not just the 'M'.
After a lot of deliberation and discussion with "car"friends I decided to book it in at Woods BMW in Salisbury. After a very quick discussion with the manager and a few snaps later, the wheels are in motion to get it repaired free of charge outside the warranty.
I am very pleased with the initial service of Woods, as I have become very sceptical of main dealers, especially when trying to make a claim on a 'modified' car. But if everything turns out as planned my failth may well be restored!

jhb205, i'm surprised the strut brace weld issue is outside of warranty, but glad bmw are willing to fix it, I was less surprised re the modified car as i am debating whether to renew the warranty on my m and have been looking into the stipulations , another furum member posted an extract from a warranty that categorically states that any modifications can invalidate the warranty,

I was also suprised, especially as I have eibach springs and an additional strut brace that goes between the top mounts. I was expecting them to huff and puff and after an argument agree to go through the warranty.
The manager had a quick look, agreed that it is a bodyshell failure that should not have happened, took some shots, repair case in motion.
Maybe I was just lucky to get a decent manager who had technical knowledge and had similar car interests to me, as he had previously owned an 'M' coupe.
I did have a brief chat about the warranty, he reccomended to stick with it. His view is that the modifications have to actually had some sort of cause to the failure to invalidate the claim. Again, I think I am very lucky to have found such an honest and genuine man.
