Broken Door Mirror / LHD Suitable?

I require a replacement LHS door mirror due to some kind person kicking it off. However I have found that more are available internationally off LHD cars. I understand that the glass will be different due to the driving position but is the mirror base / bracket /assembly different between the RHD and LHD cars? I note on realoem the part numbers appear to be different so this may be my answer....? Any help appreciated.

Think about it logically on a LHD car the driver is sat on the LHS therefore the mirror needs to be at a totally different angle to be able to see down the side of the car and as such the mirror structure, not just glass id constructed specifically. The result will be that to the maximum adjustment of the glass it should be just about possible to see, but that depends on how for forward/back you sit.

As a real rough test sit in the passenger side and see if you can adjust the drivers mirror to a useable position. My guess is the same logic and mechanics apply in reverse.

IMHO I'd stick with the correct side and avoid a compromised solution

Not knowing, but I would expect you can do the following check on your car:

Sit in the left seat and adjust the right mirror as if you are the driver in the left seat. If you can adjust it so you can use it for that, the other way around would work as well if you had a lhd mirror for the left side.

I am sure i read on here somewhere (when someone was selling their LHD mirrors) that you can use them; but have to adjust them to the extreme to make them useable for RHD.

If it was me it would bug me that one side could be adjusted more then the other...

True - someone is selling a LHD set and says they can be used on the extremity of adjustment, but as per my post above I'm not sure how good it would be and is probably something to avoid.
