broken cupholders

Having acquired a set of cupholders, I now have a full working pair and my son's zed has been upgraded from no cupholders to one and a half!
He's inherited my broken one that needs a new arm. So does anyone have any broken bits in the garage that really ought to be in the bin? Happy to provide beer tokens to generously cover postage for bits that will help turn this...

I did have a broken driver's side one somewhere, can't remember if I binned it. I'll check the shed

Edit: I just had a look and I can't find it. I must have thrown it away :headbang: apologies.

Hi mate, I have set of both sides that I have replaced, I’m not sure which parts are salvageable but happy to dig them out and take some photos to see if any parts are any good for you?

Cheers, it's just the arm mechanism on the driver's side I need. Though maybe the passenger one would also work. The bit missing in the first photo. I'm doubtful it's fixable, but worth a shot.

a shameless bump, in case anyone is clearing out the back of the garage and finds some 'rubbish' they don't want....

Hey Sam I may be able to help you with this.

I had the same arm broken when I first got my car and we ended up modelling the arm and 3D printing it. It's near exact replica (we spent a solid number of hours modelling it by hand) and it's had 0 issues for the last 3-4 years of daily usage.

Here it is in the car (took this pic a moment ago):

Can print you one off and send it over for £10 if you like (posted). Might take a week+ though from Australia. PM me if you're interested

I was literally about to say this could be modelled and 3D Printed.... you beat me to it ha - Nice work.

Is it on thingiverse or anything? What did you print it in too? I don't know what the temps are like in Australia. PLA doesn't last for anything inside a car here in the uk - well, maybe something, but defo not 3-4 years. I'd guess PETG or ABS?

Yep we printed it in ABS so no issues with heat. It's seen some ludicrous in car temps - 48c+ and no issues. It was so hot my rear mirror delaminated and started leaking the dimming fluid and my power steering got stuck.... But the arm was fine

Not on thingiverse or anything at the moment.

I figured it'd have to be ABS or PETG at the very least -- ABS in this case then. That's a clean print for ABS, it's a real pain in the behind if you ask me so I never use it these days, although saying that even PETG is giving me grief at the moment.

I have cupholders in my Z4 - so let me know if you ever decide to share the files just so I can hoard the STL in case I ever break mine and need to print another ha -- fortunately ("touch wood" as they say) I'm safe for now and my cup holders work fine

It was definitely a pain. I think we did 3-4 failed prints before we got both the model and the temp/nozzle set up right for it.

Will do
