Broken Convertible Roof Motor

Hey Everyone
I'm a newbie today. I'm located near Tampa, Florida. I too have the "Roof motor repair stonewall" going on at this time. I've read your posts re: the problem.
Much good info. & ammo. here. Thank you. Will update.

Welcome to the forum guys!

An actuator cylinder going bad is somewhat rare but not unheard of. Americans living in the sun belt should have few or no problems with their roof motor in comparison with our UK friends. But there's always exceptions...

thanks again Shipkiller! got mine out to replace motor and oil is in the well area of the motor? the 'hydraulic hinge' is leaking? maybe not the motor? but as i''ve gone this far might as well replace the motor and the hinge....tbc :headbang:

oh yea , removed motor from plastic container and she is clean and dry! definitely the 'hydro-hinge' is leaking!
wow , called the stealer and wouldn't you know it , 'hydro-hinge' costs more than the motor...LOL

OK , installed new motor and hydro-hinge put top back in car .....top comes up and closes but now doesn't open...
pulled top back out of car and rechecked wire connection and re-installed still comes up and closes but will not open ?

anyone ever have a switch go bad??

FWIW, a few have had to replace that micro switch, but forgetting to lower the tray is by far the most common problem.
