Broken centre console door w/phone prep and LEGO

Fixable or 'new' old door? Screwed in tabs still present in centre console but clearly sheared from the centre hinge running through the base of the door (image top right).

Also, how easy/difficult is it to remove the phone prep cable so I can get better access?

New door. You might be able to pick up a black on easier and then swap the internals over.

Might be worth seeing if you can split your existing one first.

This is what I’m thinking. Contacted a few breakers on eBay but they're 98% terrible at getting back to people.

Don't bother, the internals are not easy to replace. Just buy a new one from BMW for £50 or so.

 Noticed you’d had similar issues. Will speak to Sopers.

Yes, do that. I wish I had known they were still available to buy sooner. Spent way too much time faffing about with second hand centre consoles only to give up and buy a new one anyway haha

Out of interest, does anyone know how to take the phone prep part of the door flap apart and isolate? I may just get a replacement without all of that, since I haven't owned a Nokia since 2002.

Right. So I’ve deconstructed the phone prep (633) from my broken centre console door. Wasn't sure if full disconnection from an electrics pov would affect the OEM bluetooth, so I’ve left it all intact and will securely wrap and likely stow away in the lower cubby space in case I ever need to access easily again.

Pretty easy to get the prep holder out. Removed the top mini-tray, then the lower phone shroud, before using a T8 to separate the main body, remove the loom and bt pair button and discard the plastic prep kit.

On the cubby door, the broken hinge tabs we’re pushed out after I removed the retaining screws and poked with a very fine pointy thing.

Sopers have a standard non-phone prep door they can order me from Germany in spec beige for £70ish so I should be all set,

Needed to hide away the loose electronics left behind after removing the phone prep kit. Raided my kids’ Lego box and made one up that still allows me to press the Bluetooth pairing button if ever I need to. It’s not pretty but it’s perfect profile for the lower cubby space.
