Broken Boot Tray Bracket

I was loading my car up this morning and pushed the tray down over the luggage that was in there, I was firm but hardly violent and the left hand back hinge of the tray came away. I had a look and the hinge is broken, however there is no sign of the bit that broke off and i didnt here it snap!

I managed to get the tray back in place and it now feels just as it did before and operates as normal.

I am wondering if the part was broken before i got the car and i simply jumped it out of the socket for the first time.

However if this isnt the case, with the tray sitting as it should (just the top not held down) do you guys think i am safe to operate the roof (not likely with the current weather i grant you!)

There has been no error codes on the car and the tray is pretty solid (as i say it feels exactly as it did before!) What i dont want is to get the roof half down and then have it stop!

Any advise would be appreciated, picture to follow:

Looking at the break it does not appear recent so i am starting to think this was already broken when i got the car! :headbang:

Oh god not another part that can break. I had the plastic snap on the top of the tray where it pivots on the bar, seen other reports of that. But not seen this one before. I should imagine if its under warranty you might be able to dress it up to get the warranty to replace it. Mine is (so far) ok in this area.

I really do need to get a less complex car, its starting to do my head in all these faults and cheap plastic bits.

If everything sits as it should and it just popped out of this bracket, then its safe to operate the roof (not that you have a need right now with all the snow!).
