Brodit mounts?

Has anyone got a Brodit mount in their E85 or E86? There appear to be a couple of versions and wondering what people may have used and what the feedback is. I had one in my 3er and it was pretty good but easier mount points, particularly on the dash

Here's some pics:
This looks good but I'm wondering if my carbon leather dash will make it difficult

I had the dash one in my old car holding the bluetooth control.

Easy to fit but would suggest releasing the left hand side of the main dash insert rather than trying to force. I had it with CFL in the old car so no issues.
 
I've got one for my One X as i use spotify for tunes in the car. You do need to make sure you get the right spot on the dash, so the bottom fits the recess underneath the dash nicely. When getting the top edge in, be careful not to try to fiorce it, i nearly snapped the lip off which would have made it useless.

Cheers both. I like the dash mount but wasn't sure whether the leather would get in the way. As srhutch has done it, all systems go :thumbsup:
 
I have the dash one. Thinking of changing the iPhone mount fit a tomtom mount and have it hard wired in but I'm unsure if I will use it enough to warrant the change.

You need to remove the passenger air vent then release the big spring clip from the air vent hole that holds the dash in. You may need to remove the stereo and undo the screws there that hold the dash also, but releasing at the end my just give enough slack. There are other smaller clips that hold the dash in place but they are self releasing so it's just a case of pulling gently.
 
you will only need to very slightly release the dash, the the brodit will easily go in
 
Brodit fitted fine today. As others said the carbon leather is too thick to use the gap spreaders supplied. The easist way I can see was to remove the centre vents and stereo head unit and loosen(but don't remove) the four screws that hold the dash. That allows you to slide in the Brodit mount and bob's your uncle

Have any off yous fitted one for a iPhone 5 that has a skin/cover fitted. I see them listing various iphone 5 mounts,don't know what one to go for.
 
Can't help I'm afraid – I have a 4S with a really, really thin skin made by Pinlo, which just fits in the one designed for a naked iPhone.
 
They normally say which phone and whether they will take a bumper or cover,

The sheer volume of choices is a little overwhelming. The guy that runs dsl solutions who distribute them in the UK is very helpful
 
Found this tricky to install, the mount is in but looks as if it's about to snap if I bend it anymore :headbang:
 
Put a pic up, you shouldn't have to force anything.

I strongly advise loosening the dash by removing the vents and head unit and undoing the screws that hold the dash on. You only need to loosen them a little, enough to create some play in it.

If you line it up with the panel under the heating controls such that the lower clip goes in right at the far end, everything should fit without using force or bending the clip.
 
Didn't loosen the dash when I did mine - probably would have made life easier - was a bit of a pain to get in!
