Fantastic, it just goes to show that some people are born with a gift, some things you just cant learn, they must have an extra connection in the brain or something but what a fantastic talent, a very lucky young man.

I saw a program about him, He is a very talented artist, unlike most of the modern art crap that commands huge amounts of money. Millions for a pile of bricks, or an unmade bed, good luck to the lad and his family.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but say that his (obvious) talent is equally matched by those daft enough to pay ridiculous sums for his art. Yes they look impressive, particularly for his age, but 17 grand...?!?!

Sadly I agree.

There is no doubt this boy has a natural gift. However, the value or concept of art is not about how nice or realistic a painting is. You could probably find an amateur artist in every town in the UK that could paint just as well, nobody would bat an eyelid or part with more than a couple of quid for their work though, purely because it's the work of an adult.

People buying are dealers who are speculating that he will become the next Monet as long as his creative ability (not painting ability) develops. Or, more likely people who know nothing about art, have more money than sense and are sold on the paintings simply because they are exceptionally good for a child.

It reminds me of that guy that got locked up for making and selling almost undetectable forgeries of some of the worlds most valuable art. The guy was an incredible painter and sculptor but was driven to crime because he couldn't make money from his own art as he just wasn't creative.

I hope this kids parents see that his ability is nurtured and honed.
