Hi,

I'm looking at replacing my Bridgestone Potenza RE050A - Run Flats with non-run flat tyres, but as they're nearly new I really need to realise some funds from them in order to justify the purchase of new tyres.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A - 225/40/18 88 W x2

1 purchased in Feb 2011 has done about 3000 miles 7mm remaining
1 replaced under warranty on 24th Dec, about 100 miles 8mm remaining

Current delivered price from Black Cirlcles for new is £182.48 each

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A - 255/35/18 90 W x2

1 purchased in Feb 2011 has done about 3000 miles 7mm remaining
1 purchased 23rd Nov (replaced due to puncture) about 500 miles 8mm remaining

Current delivered price from Black Cirlcles for new is £266.80 each

Therefore about £900 worth of rubber new, what sort of money should I expect to realise from the sale of these? I'm not going to let them go for silly money (particularly as the new rear cost £336 - shafted due to puncture and requiring quick replacement from local indi tyre place!)

Thanks in advance...

I let two 'nearly new' (just under 7mm tread) fronts go to a forum member for £120

Depends how much you really want for them. Anywhere between £300 and £500 IMO

I paid £100+delivery for two front tyres with 6mm+ of tread but that was nearly a year ago. Probably get £150ish for them now.

I would pay about £200 for the rears in similar condition.

So all in I reckon your looking at £350 for the lot.

Am looking for a single rear tyre, but am sure you would rather sell as a pair

Hi tabbie, yes will definitely be looking to sell in pairs (if prices are right, if not I'll hold on to them incase the unthinkable happens and I sold the zed).

I could really do with achieving top end of adamski's numbers in total, after all they're more out or less new. Keep an eye on the sale listings if you're interested, as I'll probably try them on there once I've got my new rubber on.

Hi there,
I'm thinking of replacing my run flats with normal tyres.
1. Does anyone know if this will affect the steering/suspension or anything else on the car please?
2. Also do you think the insurance company would consider it a modification?
3. Would i have to replace them in pairs? or all of them?!!
Thanks for your help guys, replaced all four and found it to be a more comfy drive, and much cheaper in future. Ins' co were fine with it but best to tell them just in case. :)
