Brembo brakes question

I have track day brakes on my newly acquired Z4m and the drive is driving me nuts due to the loud screeching. The brakes that are fitted are MINTEX MDB1393 M1155 Racing pads on CROSS DOFRONT 345MM Discs.Can any one recommend a suitable set of Brembo or another make of pads that are not track day pads and will work with the currant discs?

What do you mean by "track day brakes"? A quick google suggests those Mintex pads are standard road pads.

Edited to add, also I can't see them listed as suitable for the Z4M anywhere?

I was told by a local garage that the brake pads are specific for track days and due to the fact the brakes need warming up I assumed that was correct.

Really you need to know what is causing the noise. If it is just the pads and assuming you have standard calipers then I would get the standard Pagid OEM spec pads from ECP.

However, it may be that you have pad deposits/uneven transfer to the discs, in which case just changing the pads won't necessarily help.

Oh, I'm sure there is a Mintex pad for the M, they probably make a pad for every car on earth, it was the pattern number you quoted (MDB1393) that didn't seem to be right for the M.

To add my tuppence worth, on previous forum's I've frequented, I have always been aware of standard Mintex pads, which are considered for road use, then Mintex 1144 pads, which are fast road and light track, and 1155 which are considered to be track-oriented pads.

I had Mintex 1144s on two 306 GTi6's which I'd owned and used for fast road and light track, and they performed very well. I thought about 1155s but couldn't justify them as I'd not found the limits of the 1144s...

None of the above mentioned Mintex pads are the full carbon-lorraine variety, so it is possible to run them on a road car, but it takes a while to get them up to their operating temperature, and they can be a bit crap before that point. I'd not previously heard of any issues with squealing being specifically due to the pads, but then the brake set up is very different to the cars I'd previously been mucking about with!

Pads swapped out by TWG Porsche in Peterborough for BMW Pads, no more hideous squeal!

179 quid for the pads n labour - very good value imo.

Make sure you get the pad from them, they are brand new and are as others said the 1155 compound so designed for higher operating temps. they will be worth a good chunk of your outlay on here to someone who does a few track days a year. You deffinately drove it faster on the test drive then as you had them up to temp then

Hi Mark, i went for OEM BWM Pads in the end - i couldn't live with the squealing brakes. Braking was okish after 20 minutes if i broke hardish but then light breaking brought on the noise. I did a few warm up runs to see how long i would need to run the car to get rid of the noise and i couldn't really get rid of the noise. Another issue is that its 30 mph limits all around me so i can't really blast the M jus to warm the breaks. Happy with the car and the change of brakes as reapplied my big smile- no drama really.
