Brum is still great, just got back after an afternoon of great beer in great Pubs. We parked up and the girls went off shopping we headed straight to the Shakespeare, then on to the Wellington with a quick one in the Joint Stock, then onwards and upwards to the Old Contemptibles for a great bar meal and surperb real ale By the way I am pissed BRUMS BRILL
I spent 4 years at Bham University doing my Town Planning degree from 85 to 89, always remember the old Bullring and Markets, don't remember the breathtaking views though, just mountains of chip papers blowing around  I do remember the scorpions though at the underpasses at Snowhill that glowed in the dark
Tim the centre of town mainly the Banking and Commercial areas are enjoying a real makeover especially the old buildings in Colmore Row, The Grand Hotels Stonework as all been cleaned and also the building next door 55 Colmore Row looks absolutely magnificent again. I have carried out the painting contract on the building and the mix of the listed Banking Hall as the new Reception and the modern office internal is a joy. Here is pic I took last week of the listed existing Banking hall finished
If you have not been for quite awhile then you will be surprised at the progress towards a throughly modern city. New Street Station is now state of the art, and another death of horrid sixties Architecture.
Interesting look back at the city.
So much better now they have largely reversed the 50's experiment of putting cars and buses on top on flyovers and the people underground in subways and tunnels
I'm sure Brum would make Telly Savalas spin in his grave if he saw the breathtaking views now Its probably been about 2 years since I last visited which was the German market at Xmas, highlight was going to the SuperPrix, think it was 89 on an August bank holiday and it pi$$ed it down all day and never saw one formula 1 car due to the spray, heard them though
