Breakers and stupid prices??

Anyone else find that breakers want stupid prices for secondhand parts?

I was looking for an undertray, two breakers have come back to me with prices of £170 and £150!

They are £95 brand new!

Anyone else found this?
 
Totally agree, they could turn over much more if they were realistic priced.

Thought maybe they base their prices on the costs to remove/identify and list the item but its probably more 'how much is some idiot BM owner going to pay for this?'

You referring to standard side skirts with damage at 3 times the going rate for unmarked ones ?
 
I have had mixed prices with some breakers, some will happily take an offer as well i have used quarry motors before and i find them excellent and priced reasonably but others want silly money like you say especially the ones on eBay.
 
Sureley nobody can be buying these parts though?

I have never had a car that was so hard to obtain second hand parts at a reasonable price!

I tried getting a exhaust as a hanger had snapped off of mine.... best price from a breakers.... £350!!

Needless to say I had my local garage make one!
 
I've had Both ends of the spectrum with breakers.... I was lucky enough to get some sports seat (heated but not elec) for £400 and rear clears for £65 then got quoted stupid money for other items, I think breakers are like women... You need to catch em at the right time of the month :rofl:

Taken 2 years to hunt them down, they have been wrapped up in my loft for 4 months... I want to swop both bases so they are electric, also going to change the occupancy mat in the passenger seat so I don't have to "frig" anything!

All takes time... Still on the look out for elec/heated units though to save lots of time and effort! It's going to be a winter project for 2015/6 unless I sell my z'd before then :lol:

What a bargain! Surely that must be cheaper from BMW!

I reckon I could sell my car more more cash in bits!
 
Not had the z long so i went into the glove box like a bull in a china shop and surprise surprise snapped the plastic lugs that hinge the bloody thing, what a faf, scrap yard had a glove box but wanted ££60. made 2 new lugs myself he can keep it. :D
