Breakdown Cover - Manufacture Vs Private

I've just received my yearly breakdown renewal which is with GEM Motoring Assist, renewal is £101 but includes the full works, replacement car, onward travel, hotel expenses, accident recovery etc. I had it to cover the Z3. The M140i will have the BMW Assist which I think lasts 3 years and is fairly comprehensive. With replacing the Z3 with a Hyundai this comes with 5 years breakdown cover so thought may as well not bother renewing with GEM. Just looking at Hyundais terms and conditions online and whilst 5 years breakdown sounds great in theory it doesn't look to cover accident recovery and there looks to be alot of things mentioned and would be at their discretion, e.g. onward travel and doesn't include accident recovery so it looks to be fairly basic cover. Also sounds like they would only recover the car to the nearest dealer and unsure that I would be left stranded with no onward travel. I'm weighing up whether it would be more cost affective should the worst happen and renewing with GEM, e.g. recovering the car in the event of an accident.

Just wandering whether the cover that comes with new cars is actually worth that much as its basically free?

Tim.
