Break noise when reversing in half lock from the front pad/disc
Re BMW 2003 E85 Z4
I replaced all four rotors and break pads and shortly after that I get this real bad embarrassing noise that should not be coming from a BMW!!!
The noise is coming from the front brake(s)/disc only while reversing in half to full lock while reversing into a park bay on a flat concrete surface.
It may be heard 3 out 10 times when I reverse in a 90 degree turn anti clockwise direction into the park bay. It is definitely related to the front pad/disc this has been virtually form the new upgrade of disc and pads. I can only imagine that the pad or perhaps dust build up on the back edge of the pad is sticking at a square edge on the rear tail edge of the pad when reversing ...a certain low speed and angle of lock appears to come into play also to create the deep rubbing sound!!
Its non of the following... bad bearings, worn down pads, sensors rubbing, metal to metal or squeaky type noises and only happens in reverse in a left hand down lock position!!
Any assistance will be appreciated or to hear from those experiencing the same. Thanks
Only answer I received from a mechanic ...bevel off the rear end of the pad on a grinder! Will try that next if no other answers. 8)
