Just got home after collecting my Zed from Lloyd Newcastle. Although I travelled 200 miles to Warrington to purchase my 2008 3.0si I have used Lloyd for any and all concerns with the Zed.
Early on they had it for 3 days whilst investigating issues with the sound system and a slight misfire - two new rear speakers fitted - never been a problem since and a new coil pack fitted sorted that issue.
Then before the years warranty ran out I took it in with a list of problems: weaving under heavy braking from speed, one key not operating the alarm system, corrosion on rear wheel, squeaking seat after a days use (Isle of Skye run), 1cm wear at two points on the roof fabric and two top lines of the demister not working in the rear window.
After dropping off the Zed they contacted me to let me know they had found play on the front suspension wishbones and they would be replaced, the key had been tested and would be replaced, the rear wheel had corroded where wheel weights had been removed previously therefore not covered, the seat could not be made to squeak and would need a complete strip down - I didn't want them to do that so we agreed to leave that. Then they let me know that they would not replace the roof for the wear points alone (general wear and tear) but, as the rear window was part of the roof they would replace the whole roof. To say I was surprised was an understatement.
I expressed concern that the roof had been no problem and being a major component of the Zed I was worried about the standard of fitment. I was reassured that they had all the tools and experience, having removed and replaced many before - with that reassurance, I agreed the work.

I asked for a price to replace the motor whilst the roof was off and after some negotiation this was agreed. However they contacted me to say that the motor was absolutely dry and like new and that they had never had to replace a motor before other than it was soaked and corroded - their advice was no need to replace the motor. I asked for a photo to be emailed and indeed the motor did look brand new and spotless so after taking further advice from other mechanics I agreed.

Picked it up tonight and the new roof looks very smart but I'll need to see it in the daylight. Yet to check out the high speed weave under braking. Welldone BMW and Lloyd Newcastle. One delighted BMW warranty user.

Will post some photos.

Got to be happy with that ending Paul , not often you leave a main dealer with a smile on your face :P
Also good to hear when a dealer offers a decent response to problem's & more importantly a high standard sorting out the problem's

Pleased to hear you have the roof sorted, great result. Nice to hear someone receiving good workmanship from Lloyd BMW.
I had mine in for a service on Tuesday, to which they managed to damage my side skirt from the ramp. Anyways, that's another topic.

Pleased to hear that you have got the roof sorted

Good result. I had the roof replaced as well when they put it through a car wash, they only replace the fabric part so it is a lot less work than replacing the whole roof.

Well I shall be having a good look tomorrow and checking everything out over the weekend - haven't seen it in daylight yet - don't know how it was replaced and what exactly was done. I'll post up the photo they sent me of the motor too - it was in amazing condition given some of the rusted examples seen on the forum - that was what I thought would be found, but no. . . .

Had a doubt or two covering it with my half cover tonight. . . . .think the cover will mark the new canvas - ah well - looks like it's saved the motor from water ingress so on it went.

Well pleased at the moment and cannot fault the service from Lloyd thus far.

Here's the roof motor photo - you can see why I didn't bother having it replaced. . . . .

Well pleased with it's condition - maybe the half cover has worked?
