If you don't renew your subscription then you lose access to the apps - which means you lose the ability to natively open any files you've created.

If you've got a Windows 7/8 machine then those apps are Office 2013. But if you've got a Mac then you'll get Office 2011, which is not even on feature-parity to Windows Office 2010 (and there's no Mac version of Access or Publisher).

IIRC, by default your documents will save to your OneDrive, which you may or may not want, but it's also supposed to sync to a local OneDrive folder so you can access files offline. These files and the OneDrive account remain available even after your subscription ends - but you'll need something to open them with.
 
microsoft sent me the cd key for the subscription via email today after some technical issues.
its still for sale £50

Ill forward the purchase email to the buyer for them to activate the subscription on their desired Microsoft account
 
Go on then, I'll take it.

Only because MS have just released the free Office for iPad but it needs a 365 subscription.
