Braking judder

Hi I'm getting quite a severe judder under braking.. worse the harder I'm braking from higher speed..
All disks and pads were changed not long ago.. any suggestions of where to look? Thanks

Wheel balance may be slightly out. Get them checked and be sure they do a throughout job.

What discs and pads were fitted exactly? Cheapo chinese or reputable? Any shake on the steering wheel when just driving along at motorway speeds? If not, my money would be on uneven pad deposits on the disc. A good going over with wet and dry should cure that. You will have to remove the discs to do it properly. I would then think about fitting different pads and bedding them in properly.

That would usually indicate warped discs.

However it is weird considering you recently changed them...

Could be a caliper piston seal failed and on the way to seizing up. Rare to warp a modern disc really unless you get some serious heat into it.

The disks and pads fitted are mtec disks and test at pads.. they've only done 1000 miles so I can't see it being them.. I checked the tyre pressures and they were all within 1 psi.. it is maybe slightly better since getting them all exact..
Good call about the balancing.. I think that's the next thing I will try to see if it cures the problem

Make sure the disk is sitting flush on the hub. Give it a good wire brushing then a smear of copper grease.

Also do some moderate braking from speed, then park up and leave the discs to cool down for 2 mins and check they are approx all same temperature offside and nearside (backs will be cooler than fronts). This will tell you is the piston / caliper is sticking.

^^^^Good shout. If they fitted them poorly they might have a bit of grit etc between the disc and the hub.
