Hi All I replaced all pads and discs today as MOT is tomorrow , the rear discs were very very worn infact i think they were original from when the car was new! I replaced all including handbrake shoes with textar discs and pagid pads (euro car parts sent textar instead of pagid) I was about to send them back but lookup up textar and it's made by same manufacturer as pagid and textar is oem on Porsche so not bad stuff steel is steel I guess
took a few hours to do all with the main work getting those damn springs on the handbrake shoes on and off... Everything lubricated and cleaned up and a nice coat of Hammerite silver on all the calipers and extra paint on the discs on the hub part looks nice!
I am thinking about bleeding the brakes to improve deal feel, I believe this was last done 2 years ago what else besides this will bring back the we car feel? Slave cylinder? Master cylinder? Braided steel hoses ( which I think own is braided under rubber) so maybe a waste...
Has anyone ever successfully brought back the new pedal feel using oem parts and if so which parts? A light touch in a new car with no pedal travel is what I am after. Discs and pads have never made a difference in actual travel....
While I had the rear wheels off I undid the arch covers where you can access the drain holes, followed ship killers guide and pulled the plugs! Christ after sticking my finger in there and a bit of pressure with hosepipe a load of black sludge came out! Afterwards I put hosepipe in the roof area and let the water run clear. I cleaned out the rubber bungs but not sure they are needed? Seems they cause the blockage? I may pull them out and leave out...
