brakes and discs upgrade

Can anyone here recommend a good brakes and discs upgrade for a 3.0si. :driving:

I've just fitted a set of standard EBC discs with their redstuff pads and they are proving to be quite good. They squealed for the first few mils but after about 10miles they are fine. Initial bite when cold is great and the harder you push them the better they get. I've done about 500 miles in the car with them so far.

The guy said he would do it for $2400 shipped - seeing as the kit works out to about £5k new here, seems a good deal!!

It's a good deal and I was keen to have them, but don't forget you'll need to add import duty, VAT to the entire price including shipping, and possibly handling and you won't get away with the old 'gift' trick on a set of boxes of brakes and rotors. That said if you compare it to new it's a lot less.

And just to add if anyone is thinking of adding redstuff pads for theit lack of dust don;t. They seem to be dustiny my wheels at a similar rate to the standard pads.

BBK Brake kit still a bit pricey for me right now. Think I'll go with new Brembo sports discs and pads ... anybody tried them?
No but they would be my choice too :)

Spookey, my 28,000 mile 3.0Si needs new discs (after a set of pads at 20,000 :o ) and I contacted Birds Auto, he has the following:

Sport Brakes, Red 4 Piston 330x28 which installs under most 17" wheel sets cost installed is around £2000+vat

Mods to suspension need to be done at their worksop in Bucks, not sure I can strech to the £2k though :(

Apart from the looks are you really going to get the advantage of a BBK anyway? I guess the limit for braking on our cars is going to be the tyres anyway, unless you are running road legal track tyres... Or do a lot of track days of course...

I'm guessing your car as the 300mm front discs?

Like I mentioned above I've just fitted EBC's plain discs and a set of red stuff pads and this setup is proving to be very good and cost effective. Discs, pads and delivery came in it £170

And contrary to my earlier comment the pads do seem to be giving off less dust.

You can get the Brembo GT kit with 1 piece disks for under £1350 (plus fitting I suppose) size 320 x 28mm (4 piston calipers). Looks like a nice compromise to me.
