Brake upgrade, on the cheap...

I am planning to do the rear upgrade in the future too and would like to end up with the si combo setup. Also 286 to 300 is just 14mm. Not 25 like in your case :). Another reason is I am thinking of an ESS supercharger that will bring me to about the same power as the 3,0si (270-280hp).

If you ask why not wait for after the ESS is that I need new rotors up front now.

Ok. So after painting them, I fitted them today. 45 mins or so and done.

They were a straight swap, no bending of the rear shield required.

Went for a run, braking effort much better for same pedal effort, so much so that I nearly went through the windscreen on first use!

Stand up to 3 successive emergency stops from 80mph with zero fade, the old ones managed 2 stops before smoking and fade set in..

Very happy with both the looks and the performance. Great value upgrade and I recommend it to anyone who thinks the std 3.0 setup is lacking.

Glad it all, went well and you feel the difference.

Pretty much like I found when first using them. I was pulling up short at islands and lights, such was the braking improvement for same pedal effort.

Those 108's look so much more filled, but I think a refurb has to be on the to do list..

Looks great. This is next on my list as I've just bought some e46 330i front callipers off eBay.

Just need to learn how to bleed brakes first :-)

And to top it off, I fitted these yesterday, along with some new pads.

Very happy with the results!

Looks good. Don't forget the anti rattle springs on the calipers.

I just ordered 325mm mintex front disks and new rears for my 3.0se, I also managed to locate a pair of 330i callipers WITH carriers, which has been a real pain in the backside, I can get callipers easily but the carriers have been a problem!

So my brake upgrade is coming along nicely, has anyone had any issues with this swap, it seems simple enough as it brings the car up to Si spec, I was looking at E90 callipers but am unsure of the bolt fitting, knowing BMW they changed it from E46 to E90

Just sourced an alloy disa valve kit too, although mine is in very good shape so I don't need to fit it yet!

considering changing to the 2.5 auto 3.46 diff as the next upgrade when I get some time.
