brake pedal feel

does any one else here feel the brake pedal is over assisted at the top of the travel, i quite often feel i've over reacted when i brake and end up taking my foot off and braking again, not good for passenger comfort, will i get used to this or is it something you can adjust, tho i cant see how.

I haven't noticed that mine feels that way, 3.0si coupe, its not an M I suppose, but that maybe because I sometimes use an Astra Sport-hatch diesel where the brake pedal is more akin to an "on/off" switch

The peddle travel on my Si varies - I asked a question in the middle of another thread (so I can't find the answer I got :headbang: ), but IIRC the brakes will prime themselves if you have been braking reasonably hard, even at 'normal' speeds, lessening the travel for full braking force. Quite clever, but it was unnerving sometimes until I knew what was happening. I assume the ///M brakes would work the same way :?

The first bit of the travel is taking up the slack in the pads - when it gets harder it is the pressure being applied between surfaces. The only issue I have found with this is with fast driving, sometimes i like to just dab the brakes before turning in just to shift the car's weight, but I'm finding it difficult with the Z4MC to master it. It will take time, or i'll just install piston springs :D

Wondering whether the brakes have a reaction sensor just like my AUDI - press hem normally & they're progressive, hit them quickly & the car senses something's up & gives additional servo assist?

reaction sensor, never heard of that before, that makes sense though as it does'nt happen as you say when braking normally, it seems tobe if i over react a bit or stab the pedal whilst trying to heel and toe, thanks for that, i will experiment more :D

I believe the car does have brake assist so when it detects a sharp brake input it might assist in the braking effort. I do think that what the original poster is saying though is more due to the BMW brake pads, i felt the same when i was sporting them but now with different brake pad compounds it doesnt behave that way.

ah, i see said the blind man, what pads do you suggest ? not squealy ones tho, oh or dusty ones, hey, dont want much, do i

I only have experience with Axxis ULT and Stoptech Street Performance pads and am happy with both for street/mild track duty. They don't squeak and dust is similar to stock.
