brake pad wear warning

Hi all, so I've had a brake pad wear warning light on the dash for some time now. I decided to replace the pads anyway (they all had a good chunk left) and the sensors however the light is still on the dash. Do I need to get this coded out or could there be an issue with the system somewhere. Has anyone had this issue before?

Hi, presuming it is the brake wear warning (circle with dots either side) no reset procedure on the E85 that I'm aware of, but you have one sensor at the front and another at the rear. The new ones can be a fiddle to plug in properly and very easy to dislodge or damage so I'm guessing you need to check both sensors.

Both have been replaced with brand new units so there must either be a fault in the cable to the control unit or some sort of reset is all I can think of.

Reset afaik is ignition on for 20 seconds with door open and it should reset !

I replaced all disks pads and sensors recently and I had to plug in my code reader and clear the pad wear light - 3.0 Si coupe

Tried the door open with ignition on but that hasn't worked. Didn't think it would unfortunately so looks like I need to get it plugged in. Anyone in Hampshire/Wiltshire area with a code reader and that would be able to do this?

Think it might be age related, worked on mine 2004 !

Found more info,....http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28811&hilit=brake+reset&start=15

That's actually quite funny, I must have reset mine by chance during the work I did - but good to know for next time

Lol, on mine I timed it with my watch. It was over 20 sec but below 45. Basically turn ignition on and leave until the light goes out!
