Hey Guys,

Having the car serviced at the weekend by my local indi and whilst its there im gonna get the pads changed at the same time.

Any recommendations on good ones. Im after good performance obviously but with minimum brake dust, because i like shiny clean rims, not dirty horrible grey ones!!

Thanks

Fitted Brembo's to mine and they're fine. See here. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=30364
Definitely less dust than previous pads.

I was warned off the redstuff/greenstuff ones by my local indie as not good general "road" pads and likely to require more grunt on the pedal when cold and possibly squeal?, but sick of the tough black dust of the oem ones, so I tried Pagid, they seem to be just as effective around town but far less horrible black dust.

Why don't they make brake pads with "silver" dust, so your wheels just get more sparkly and bright?

:D

Thanks for the responses people.. I've gone with the Pagid pads after doing a bit of research myself. Booked in tomorrow for oil service and new pads front and rear. £300 all in which I dont thinks bad at all.

Price sounds about right with time and materials for brake pad change as well as oil service...
Is your brake setup as standard for the 3.0Si (I think they were updated for the facelift), or have you uprated your discs and calipers?

Hi Dev,

Just running standard brakes at the minute which were uprated for the facelift. Not sure if it was all 3.0 facelifts or whether it was just the Si though. I beleive they are the the same set up as the 330Ci.

When the discs need changing then I will look at upgrading these. Was talking to a guy the other day who tracks an Evo and he was saying that its better to go for dimpled discs as opposed to cross drilled as the drilling weakens the disc and they can crack. Sounds feasible but dont really know for sure. I would imagine there would need to be some pretty heavy braking to get them to crack.

I've just run in my RedStuff (1k miles) and am happy with them so far.

About 50% less brake dust than OEM, no fade with my style of driving (spirited) and no squeling or rattling like others have complained about.

I had reds on my previous Z. Couldn't fault them, no rattles or noise. Needed a little temp to bite but nothing major.
