Brake makeover ("Brakeover"?)

Well, here I am in the A1M/M25 services wishing I'd fully refurbished the front O/S caliper because it's now seizing up. The wheel is so hot that the centre cap has fallen out and it stinks!

Been fine for weeks but probably should have seen this coming. :roll:

Now... whether to attempt the 35 mile trip home?!

Cheers fellas... those were some anxious miles!!! I do have recovery but after googling the issue and finding that Z4-forum has a rather gung-ho attitude towards seized calipers, I decided to risk it.

Whenever it started to wobble I pulled off the road and did some car park "manoeuvres" to unstick it. Got some funny looks but seemed to do the job. At one point I did about ten miles with no problems at all, which was great because the wheel temperature went right down.

That's a tidy job, jakblade. 108s show off brakes and rotors really nicely.

Do I need to disconnect the brake fluid line to do this, or can it stay connect during a painting and disc/pad swap over? Fancy the latter, but not big on doing the former!!

No, you can just suspend the caliper and paint it without removing the brake lines. Just be careful not to twist or stretch the hoses.
