Brake lights

Hello there. I’m new to this forum and am a bit desperate with an electrical fault. The problem started last week on my 2007 e85 2.0 . I was told by a work mate that my side lights were on ,which they were because the brake lights were stuck on draining the battery. I fitted a new brake switch to no avail. I checked all the earths and they seemed to be okay. I then called one of the recovery services out and they spent over an hour on the car and came to the conclusion that it was probably the light control module or a capacitor that was the problem. I’ve just fitted another LCM on the car and within 5 minutes of leaving the car parked the brake lights started to flicker and then stayed on. I’m getting to the point I want to set light to it. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

The only thing that controls the side lights is the LCM. Maybe you got a bad replacement?

Hello again. Thanks for the response. I tried the fuse 45 suggestion but no luck there. I also thought that the light module might have been faulty too, but what are the odds of a second unit having exactly the same fault? My son ran a Carly code reader on the car and it came up with 2 faults on the body control module which he was unable to clear. I’ve got another bcm from flea bay but apparently this will need reprogramming if fitted, so again I’m stuck with the dilemma of what to try next. Thanks again for any more suggestions.

Hello again. An update on the brake light situation. After trying for weeks to get the brake light problem sorted I decided to remove the fuses one by one, spray them with some contact cleaner and replace them, whilst checking for blown fuses . There were none , but once I finished the brake lights went back to normal. Now it would seem that the reversing sensors aren’t working. I’m thinking that this might be the link to the brake light issue as about a month ago they blew fuse number 10 ,which stopped the sensors and the central locking working. I replaced the fuse and everything seemed okay until the issue with the brake lights started . Has anyone got any ideas on this please? Thanks
