Brake lights on after cruise contr. inst.

I have installed a cruise control kit in accordance with the BMW retrofit kit instruction. I read the information posted on this Forum prior to the installation. After a few hours of work it was time for the test drive. No success! The brake lights are on as soon as the engine is started and the defective light indication is on! :x
Anyone familiar with this problem?

Check the fuse first then the connections you made at the LCM. Where did you put the wire in the engine bay? I think I needed to use the black repair cable.

I connected the blue repair cable in the grey 42 pin block at pin 39, inside the IVM. I did exactly as jamiecarpenter discribed it here at the Z4 Forum.
When I reconnect all as it was before the modification, the problem is still there. Which fuse are you referring to?

I seem to remember the blue cable fitting but think the black one is the correct one to use. Check the brake light fuse as that one went on mine and caused the same problem. Can't remember which one it was but have a look at any that relate to the brakes and hopefully it will be that.

Found some wiring diagram online. Seems like if the brake light switch fails, the brake light comes on automatically.
Fuse 14 in the fuse box is feeding the brake light switch. And yes, it had popped! New fuse, everything back in place,
battery connected, ignition on. Test drive and everything ok! Cruise control works perfect! :D
( I have ordered a wiring manual for any future electrical problems)

Congrats. Yes it seemed like a strange system to me but I suppose it is fail-safe. No idea why my fuse popped in the first place as I disconnected the battery for the install but it hasn't done it again since.

Is she behaving nicely still? You've had the best weather for it, and I've been stuck in a tin top - typical :-p

Your loss is my gain! Certainly is, the only issue I have had was a high speed judder under light braking. Myele HD bushes seem to have cured that. Oh and that damn headlight adjuster... that was a pig to fix...
I'll take some nice photos at some point and see if you can spot the mods ;)

Edit: Damn, forgot they were listed in my sig :headbang:
