Brake light glowing

Hey all,

I’m having a bit of an issue with my right-side brake light. I’ve got a warning light on the dash saying that I have a bulb out, but when I’ve checked, all the bulbs seem to be fine.

I’ve checked all the connecting pins on the bulb holder and they seem fine. I’ve also checked the pins in the plug and none of them appear to be burnt, loose or damaged.

Is there anything else I should be checking? I’m going to have a look at the brake light switch on the pedal tonight/this weekend as well, just to rule that out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

So it's glowing all the time? Or only with ignition on?
Quick check could be to swap the bulb and holder to the other side and see if the4 fault moves with it.
You don't say if it's pre- or post-facelift?
Early rear light units are ten a penny so could try picking up another and slaving that in?
I've had a few instances with the indicators flashing double speed and a bulb out warning on the dash even though all the bulbs have been fine and no dodgy LEDs fitted. These have been due to a slightly high resistance somewhere in the brake light circuit. Simply using Scanner 1.4 to code out the bulb checks to the errant brake light has been enough to cure the problem.

Its a pre facelift, i will try swapping the bulbs across to the other side to see if it follows. ill also see if i can find some replacement units to be safe, i don't have a Scanner 1.4 but will try get that sorted too.

thanks for some insight
