Brake light cover replacement question?

Hi there,

Well it's finally happened, the brake light cover on boot (which had a crack in it when I first got the car) has given up the ghost :(

Is it easy to replace? I'm kind of hoping its just the cover I need rather then it being a complete sealed unit.

Anyone replaced it and got any info?

It's simple to replace. BMW use to replace them under warranty. The original problem was the three springs and bolts being to tight. You do have to replace the whole unit, it's just one piece. I forget the nut size but they are easy to get to. Unplug one wire and you're almost done. Make sure that the nuts are just snug.

A bit of Googling has got me a part number so I'll give BMW a shout tomorrow and get the part ordered

In one thread I read it said something about a "deep" 8mm socket being needed

I'll have a look into it
