Driving to work this morning and I could hear an ungodly noise. Very quickly realised a calliper was sticking. Lucky work is only a mile or so from home. When I got to work it was obviously is was the front passenger side as the wheel was very hot compared to the others. I took the brakes apart to check it out and the dust seal had come away. Half is in place, half has popped out. I have no idea how long it has been like that. I couldn't get the seal fully back in place. The sliders were also covered in crap. I cleaned everything up and put them back together. The calliper no longer appears to be sticking but I don't know how long it will last. Do we think it's worthwhile replacing the calliper just in case? I have a trackday in 2 weeks so need to have full confidence in the brakes.
On another note, I noticed my EBC Bluestuff NDX pads had a crack running right down the middle of them. A couple of mm deep, but not right down to the base. They have been on for 2 trackdays and maybe 3-4000 easy going miles. Do these need replaced ASAP or are surface cracks/fractures normal?
