1. Is it recommended to renew the brake lines? My Z is 10 years old with 50k on the clock and not been changed before.

2. Is it a big job labour wise? I am getting new discs/pads fitted plus brake service so is it a lot more work?

This is the kit I am looking at

Or should I just use a cheaper oem style Pagid set from euro car parts?

I did mine with Pagid/OEM kit as the brakes on the 2.5 are not going to benefit from braided hoses. It's quite simple to do once you have the callipers off just unscrew both ends and replace the hose. It's few minutes each once everything else has already been stripped.

I did think that re the braided hoses, plus my brake kit is all Pagid so would be nice to keep it all the same/oem. They have the Pagid kits on Euro car parts so think I will be using them along with my contacts 30% discount plus free p&p, have a full re fit done :)

It's funny the company selling the braded lines told me "they will make a noticeable difference"

Braided hoses will definitely give a better pedal. Original hoses expand under pressure. Braided hoses don't.

I have no experience with putting braided lines on cars but,

I have put braided brake and clutch lines from HEL on my last 3 Bikes and IMO they did make a noticeable
Difference (for the better)
I went with HEL because all the fitments are Stainless as standard.

Just upgraded mine with braided my Z is 10 years old. The solid line across to the off side back was in poor condition and also the sections as they exit the tunnel that houses the pipes running to rear of the car. It's worth while checking condition. I replaced those sections.
Expect that the original fittings will not release from the original steel pipes after 10 years! You may be lucky. I wasn't
Tip : Buy a proper brake fitting spanner

My only experience of switching to braided hoses was prep on club rally cars mostly fitted for safety and durability with stuff flying around them. On a road car within normal operating temperatures you will get no noticeable benefit from braided. High temp or track work is different as the standard hose will soften to a degree. People talk about standard hoses ‘bulging’ causing a soft pedal feel, but get a mate to press the pedal and see if you can feel the pipe expand – it won’t (unless you have a very serious problem!).

The difference most people notice having changed to braided is down to fresh properly bled fluid as even a tiny amount of air in the system will cause more ‘squish’ than a standard hose ever will.

Don't forget that not all braided hoses are equal and unless they are from a top-spec maker may be no less prone to expansion than standard. Good braided won’t do any harm and look good but aren’t necessary for most of us.

Thanks for the feedback. I've gone for the oem Pagid ones. Considering the overall performance level of the car I don't think braided hoses are worth it so I will update once fitted, although I will have new discs pads and fluid so might be hard to tell!
