Damn, gannet's thread reminded me. I'd been holding onto mine for a couple of weeks so that I could drive mine for a bit and ensure I was never going to need my CDV again, before giving it away....

Peddy - you still needing mine or are you getting gannet's? PM me your address if you do and I'll sling it in the post tomorrow.

update, having driven home through stop start traffic and motorway etc, I can actually feel the difference in every change - even the higher ones (3rd - 4th, 4th - 6th etc), up and down the box.

WHY O WHY do BMW send them out like this, really makes no sense. I realise now just how much I have been compensating for it over the last 3.5 years :x

They knew what I was talking about, however....do they modify the part already in there or do I need a new CDV for them to play with? I need to know ASAP

you can either remove it, or modify the one that they take out. If you have warranty I would go for the modify route, as it would be harder to detect.

Modify new ones don't work too well as they have either changed the design or need some wear to loosen up a little bit.
