Brake fluid clock

Today I had a brake pressure switch replaced and my indie did a brake fluid change at the same time (not sure if he had to do this when replacing the switch anyway, either way he didn't charge me anymore for it). Since the fluid has now been changed I thought I would reset the brake fluid change clock so it wouldn't come on for another two years from today. However following the guides on here doesn't work, I have listed below what happens when I try to reset it...

For vehicles that can have the service light reset using the instrument cluster.
1. Ignition key to position 0 (off) Works
2. Hold trip meter button (the left button) Works
3. Ignition key to position 1. The display will show: "test 1" Works
4. Keep holding the trip meter button until the the display shows: "reset inspection" or "reset oil service" Works
5. Release the button Works
6. Press and release the trip meter button once. The display will show the square clock symbol and the month the fluid change is/was due on. Works shows 5.13
7. Press and hold the trip meter button until the display is showing a flashing "reset". Then release the button. "Reset" will keep flashing. Doesn't work - skips to showing "end"
8. Press and release the trip meter button once. The display will show the square clock symbol and the month for the next fluid change in 2 years time. Doesnt get this far
9. Press and hold the trip meter until "End" is displayed
10. Let go of the button and turn ignition to 0 (off). The clock symbol will not show again until the next fluid change is due.

Any ideas why? I should point out I don't have any indicators showing the change is overdue although it gives a date of 5.13? In all of this I have now managed to accidentally reset my service indicator to oil service in 15,000 odd miles instead of the inspection 2, although I guess if I don't reset it when I get it serviced it will be back on track!

To be honest I am as cack-handed as you at doing stuff like this - sounds like just what I would have been posting had I tried it

If it were me I would go back to your indie and have them reset the brake fluid schedule as they should have done it when they changed the fluid anyway. And see if they can set your service indicator correctly too maybe.

I have got to go back to have some eibach springs fitted as they sent the wrong ones so I will ask him about resetting it whilst I'm there. Seems nothing goes to plan or works as it should! lol!
