Brake Drone

Hi all,

I notice that after heavy braking there is a worrying drone under further braking. Actual brake performance isn't affected though. Before I get BMW to investigate, does anyone else experience this? It's obviously an affect from the brakes heataing up, but now does it more frequently.

I've not noticed this yet, I get squeal and a slight rumble after a few laps on track (from the brakes, not my passengers), but this disappears again once the car cools. You're welcome to compare with my car Meeko.

This is pretty normal trait of M brakes in general, think it's to do with the drilled aspect of them, nothing to worry about and totally normal I believe! If you google it you'll find lots of threads on it

normal, does get really loud however, if their are really warm they will make a cracking noise when you've stopped and they are cooling down!

Yep as above, seems normal to me. I have a Wilwood setup on my E36 which uses E46 M3 discs and that's exactly the same.

Completely normal, my E92 M3 does the same.

Yes they can be noisy,I think it may be the hotair being pushed out of the vent holes,nothing to worry about .
