Brake disc skimming?

Had the same issue on a both my Ms

Had the disks replaced instead. Often its because the disks are warped, if you take it to a specialist they will soon tell you.

On my most recent M front and rear were both warped  It could also be a sticky calliper but you get quite a violent shake through the car, that was my experience anyway.

Had the discs replaced at 66k, 4 years ago, oem fitted. Now on 81k. The wobble is only slight under heavier braking, hence the query about having them skimmed.

I was quoted an average of £170 per disc so better off just replacing them

Clock. The discs with a DTI then you will know if they are warped or not and then need to look elsewhere

Mine did this.

Started off slightly under heavy breaking then got worse.

Caliper had seized. Ended up having new brakes, calipers and pads across the front axel.

Hi guys .
I recently had vibration under braking and found my pagid pads where leaving pad deposits on the discs and this was causing the vibration .
I talked ecp in to replace the discs under warrenty then bought brembo + pads .
As of yet the vibration hasn't come back.
That said the brembo + pads cause lots of dust  .

I'm getting them checked out this week. I put the motor away for the Winter about this time, so I'll see what needs to be done and diary it for next Spring.

As above, much of the time ‘warped discs’ simply have deposits of pad material. Typically this is as a consequence of sitting with your foot on the brake pedal when stationary with hot brakes. Repeating the bedding in process will often remedy this.

OP, I had a set of OEM discs skimmed by Phil at CPC in Amersham for next to nothing whilst he had the car for servicing. I would recommend giving him a call if it’s geographically convenient.

When I first got my M last year I swapped out the knackered discs and pads for ATE (they were the supplier to BMW originally) discs from Euro Car Parts (great value compared to BMW) and genuine pads... they’ve been great thus far, and stop more than adequately for fast road without any fade 🤟

*edit* ECP currently have a Halloween offer... which on a quick check bought the ATE sided discs out at £389 for the pair including VAT 👍 could be a good option 🙂
