Brake caliper mod on E89

So I done a caliper mod as an Christmas gift to my Z :D The colors picked where, Ferrari Scuderia gold wheelcolor (named "Oro") and Maserati grey wheelcolor (named "Grigio Mercury").

As much as possible was taken apart for paint without taking the brake lines off.

To make the gold details also be a part of the rear caliper, I modified the spring of an Z4 23i front caliper and mounted it to my rear caliper

So this was the process:

Cleaning with acid:

I have also ordered a M badge to fit over the front gold plate. But haven`t decided to mount it yet! What is other Z owners opinions on that one?

Really liking that

Shame they are hidden behind so many spokes.

Thanks :D But I don`t think my summer wheels hide them that much :)

Did you use high temp paint?

No, just normal PPG paint. The PPG paint can handle 270 Celsius degrees. So I hope it stands the heat. I`m not a track driver, so....

Awesome car.

Sorry, what's PPG? Did you spray them with 'rattle' can paint or a proper compressor and spray gun?

What acid did you use and was that to clean or etch the surface?

I'm moving to a house with a garage next month, so will finally be able to do these jobs i didn't want to do with the car jacked up outside! Can't wait!

PPG is a paint brand that most of the car manufactures use. So Maserati use PPG on their body's. Yes, I was using rattle can because the surface is really rough on these calipers. The gold was sprayed in a paint shop :D Used acid for cleaning wheels and yes it was for cleaning and etching the surface. That`s nice with own garage

O M G ;) lol... I'm all for painting up the hubs etc.. but man, you need to get those arches detailed, look at the gunk around the shocks and arch!! tsk! :P

Roads are really dirty here in Norway, so its hard to make it look nice everywhere all the time. If you see the blue H&R springs on the picture. They was new 2000km ago  I can promise you that my car newer is dirty outside..... Polish it every 1000km, but will take a really nice clean all over in the spring time

My last E85 was a lot more clean in the wheel arches :D

Yep I agree they look really great. Although the fronts looked surprisingly rust-free before you painted them.
