Anyone fitted any brake caliper covers on their car? Thought about painting mine but don’t want to do a rubbish job. Just seen these. Good idea but a bit of a gamble wether the fit will be good759749E4-11E2-4EEE-9D57-3180FBB9C632.png

Ha ha, They may look a bit tacky when fitted I agree. Were the blue M Sport brake calipers an option from new or just fitted to newer cars?

Brake caliper specialists will refurb and paint your calipers for you. Both with a lifetime warranty.

So should the paint flake off. Or the calipers ever seize in future they will pay collect postage and return delivery on them under their lifetime warranty.

They also do decals if you want M or something else sprayed on them.

I just had mine done through them.

I bought some Foliatec Caliper paint.
As I was doing the brakes on the Saab a few weeks ago, I decided to paint those instead.
It was a dead easy job. Cleaner and paint brush provided.
I suggest getting a very strong wire bush, small size rather than large.

Will be doing the Z4 soon once I decide on right colour.

HAMMERITE.

Comes in all different colours (smooth and hammered finish). Costs £18 for 750ml which is enough to paint all the brake calipers in the world (twice). Clean the calipers, no need to get any rust or corrosion off and you can do it yourself with a very small brush and a bit of patience, leaving the brakes all in-situ and connected.

It really is that simple.

Or you could dismantle the brakes, potentially drain the fluid, take them or send them away and pay good money for the privilege, then have to re-assemble them, bleed the brakes, add fluid.......etc, etc.

Guess which one I chose? :D :D

I have stove enamelled blue brakes on my 4 series (from factory). After 11k miles they have multiple chips in the paint.

On E89s all calipers were single piston floating types finished in silver as OE…

The silver is normally just bright aluminium alloy before it ages

Ah so blue were never fitted to Z4s then apart from the new shape ones. Just had an email quote from a local company for £300 but they won’t guarantee their work for some strange reason….

Correct blue was never used on E89s calipers..as OE…

I used these guys…the best but you pay a reasonable price for their work..

That sounds some guarantee, who did you use?

Brake caliper specialists.

Google them.

I have got after pics of mine. Yet to do a thread about them on here been busy.

I'd say their work was a 9.5/10.

The didn't re thread the bolts after painting them. So my mechanic had a bit of a tough time getting them back in the car as a result.

Interesting. Where are the specialists based? How much did it cost to get these done?

Google them. BCS is the company. Brake caliper specialists.

They do work for McLaren and a few other dealers.

I just rebuilt all my calipers on my 550i and had them professionally powder coated. I disassembled them myself, sent them for powder coating, then rebuilt them with new seals and dust boots. Super fun project. Not the cheapest of projects, but they do transform the look of the car. Color I went for was inline with the blue in the BMW logo and came out great against Alpine White. I will likely do this for my red Z4 sometime this year, but definitely not the same caliper color.

Attempting to clean them first to see if I can get them to look nice. Big no.

Look nice. So yuu went to all that trouble and expense to make your calipers look 'bling' but in the last picture your centre cap is skewed, the ///M badge is upside down and your wheel bolts look distinctly 'used'. Those things are very cheap to fix

They look great. Just how I want mine to look. Anyway I have bought some Blue paint, some M Sport stickers so I'm gunna give the painting option a try this weekend. I'll get some pics of before, during and after. If it doesn't turn out how I want them ill just paint them black or silver at a later date. Wish me luck.......
