Hi everybody new to the forum and in the process at looking at a few z4's. Was also looking at boxsters but feel better z4's offer value for money and a lot less abuse from other drivers/passer-bys.(from what ive been reading)and cant really see why an extra 2k for an older car with simlar spec
I have a budget from 4k-7k but want the best bang for my hard earned cash.
Which engine would be the best to go for and what model?
will be looking to purchase early October so in no rush.
Its only really a weekend or fun car so miles on the car are not an issue in my purchase but nothing stupid.
All the advice on other peoples purchases are much appreciated.
 
Welcome Wylie , bang for buck & not overly concerned by mileage i would be looking to stretch myself into a SI 3.0 so from 2006 onwards but they will be few & far between at £7k
October time should see a drop in ask prices generally but for now a decent example is

I'm with mr wilks over the 3.0si face lift model (post 2006)

But if you want to have some cash in hand then be patient and wait for a pre 2006 3.0i that has been well cared for and maintained. Mileage can be high but all E85s are getting to an age where that's to be expected - what counts is the history and whether known issues have been addressed. A keen enthusiast will have renewed suspension components and kept the Zed in top order. With such a history a cherished older E85 could be a great investment.

Also consider a 2.5si which might come into your price range.

In any event this is not the best time to be buying so waiting (if you can :cry: ) for the end of the season makes sense.

I bought mine in September, plenty of deals around from then. But you'll miss out on this summer...

Is there any major issues to look out for when purchasing a zed?
For example rover had head gasket failure the boxster has ims failure(5% apparently) is there anything i need to be paranoid about before parting with my £££'s lol :P
