I'm planning to do a recce run for the Braemar Run this Sunday. Not doing the whole route, but bits of it, and other random roads.

Will be heading north from Forfar/Kirriemuir, up to Fettercairn, up to Banchory then down to Blairgowrie.

Any takers for an impromptu meet?

All welcome of course, could stop in Banchory for lunch?

Good run today, albeit wet. Had the hardtop on as it just wouldn't stop raining.

Been covered a few time on here, but today I saw some of the worst driving of my life....

A93 Braemar Road heading south. I overtook a caravan, and saw black Golf GT (2.0 TDi) also overtaking, albeit later. After easing off and pulling back into the left hand lane, the Golf comes racing up behind me, right up my chuff, and far too close for my liking.

Anyways, we're onto some twisty bits, rain pelting down. I'm taking it rather cautiously, as its wet. The Golf has been sitting a steady 2mm (1/16 of an inch in old money) from my rear bumper for quite some time, despite my efforts to put some distance between us.

So.... on the way round a BLIND BEND, the Golf pulls out to overtake. I was pretty shocked given the bend that we were taking. The Golf appeared to duck behind my car again which suggested he might have realised how dangerous he was driving. But oh no! He then pulled back out to overtake. I slowed down to let him in before any oncoming traffic took us both out in what could have been a nasty accident. I couldn't see if there was any traffic coming, and he certainly couldn't.

After overtaking me, we caught up with a slow moving motorbike. I was in no particular hurry, but the guy in the Golf was not very happy about me being behind him. He overtook the motorbike on a blind crest approaching a bend, despite double white lines AND warning signs about the blind crest. He was driving like a man possessed, with no regard what so ever for any oncoming traffic.

I really dread to think what might have happened if there was traffic coming the other way during either of his kamikaze manoeuvres

Anyway. Rant over.

Aside from the lunatic, good drive. Here's some pics

See you next week :driving:

Looks like new - although I still think you should have installed the angels eyes while you had the headlights cracked open. They looks awesome in the wet, wintry conditions
