Bouncing windows saga (again) FFS

I'v got it back today, so will test tomorrow if the weather holds.

In addition they also stripped out the boot and back chasing down a creek and jiggle from the body.

Hi,

Not sure if this will cure your bouncing window issue, but it cured mine to date. I'm using "Autoglym vinyl and rubber care" on the glass seal running rubbers, as I assumed that as the rubber got older and dirtier that the friction between the glass/rubber increased and started to reach the activation level of the anti-trap system. Hence bouncing windows, as the system thinks that something is trapped in the window opening, so reopens to prevent broken fingers etc.

Also make sure you use a glass cleaner or water & vinegar mix on the insides of the glass, with the door open, so that the edges that come into contact with the rubber seal is nice and clean and reduces any unnecessary friction.

I've done this since the summer and it's not reoccurred yet. Fingers cross :)

Also, I assume this is more of a summer issue due to hotter dryer conditions.

Best regards, Jamos.

Actually, just also thought that if any washing soap is left to dry on the rubber seal this would definitely increase the friction.

Remember unlike standard windows that have a nice loose frame, frame-less windows require a tighter seal to stop wind noise and rain. Also check the door alignment, as this will also effect the window sealing against the rubber and bounce the glass. As if the door isnt closing enough it will be hitting the edge of the roof window slot rather than engaging correctly and creating excessive friction.

Just a thought... Very easy/cheep to try

Hi all,

Did anyone try my suggestion above and have any success? I'm just interested if this has cured anyone else's bouncing windows, or has mine been a fluke?

Regards, Jamos.

Mines just done this today for the first time.

Will give it a good clean this weekend and see if it happens again before taking it in. Mines a Feb 14 build so its still happening.

Sat about 30 mins trying to get it to shut, then when I pulled away to go to the dealer, it shut.

Front and rears currently both shut at the same time. Its red as well :P

Had this occur on my November 2014 35i two days after pick up from the dealer. Happened after putting the roof back up. Nearside window closed OK then bounced open about 50mm.

Took it back the following day for a module software reflash and all is well (so far).

I don't think it was the first one they'd seen....................

envy_ two things I noticed about the youtube video.
When you finally close the side window it looks like it's hitting the window frame at the roof and kicking in, suggesting the door glass is not aligned with the roof seal gap.

Secondly when the top panel close, it closes hard. Mines slows momentarily before it shuts, saving the impact.
