So bought these cables from MT audio, an ebay store. looking to connect my ipone through AUX to play music.

Removed vents, pulled out stereo, plugged cable.............nothing? still no sign of AUX appearing as a MODE option.

Am i missing something ?

I've forwarded this on to Matt of MT Audio, he should be able to help. If he replies I'll post it in here

"The unit doesnt enable aux, listing states it must already be enabled"

Looks like you've bought the wrong item mate.

you can enable it pretty easy enough... i paid like £10 for an aux port for mine which had a resistor along the cable which enabled the aux option.

once its enabled it should hopefully stay there?

not sure what all this talk is of needing it programmed etc. aux leads should be plug and play on e85/e86. That however doesn't look like a traditional aux cable (most having a 3.5mm jack on the end)

nightyard is right, they need a resistor in there somewhere to "trick" the radio into thinking its the correct one

(if you have bought that from BMW and a genuine cable, disregard everything I have said, but it doesn't look like it to me)

I brought this after emailing the place...

They also do the cable with the iPhone adaptor if you wish however he said it just plugs in and plays because of the way they designed it.

I will let you know how mine goe's.

Here is the post from SK93 regarding the resistors etc.
