Bought new battery….should I charge it?

Just bought a new Bosch S5 battery for the coupe.
Should I just put it in the car, or should I charge it up first on the charger?

My take: If you do decent daily mileage, bung it in. If it only does round the roads at weekends, there's no harm in sticking it on charge for a bit to make sure it starts off tiptop.

As above, they're nominally kept charged but there's always a chance it's been on a shelf for a while.

Yes, doesn't hurt to charge it before use, but I figured taking my car on a good run round the local roads having changed the battery was probably equivalent, and a lot more fun! :driving: Just check the voltage before putting it in the car and charge it first if you have to

Well I charged up the battery prior to putting it in.
Hardest part was getting the last battery out. The positive terminal was truly mashed around the clamp!
Once the new battery was in I had to reset the clock.
Initially the indicators weren’t flashing on lock, but after a while they seemed to come back to life again. One touch windows going down are okay. One touch going up have stopped but again, they could be working again and I haven’t checked.

Your windows will need resetting.
With doors closed put window all way down and hold down for 3 secs then put window all way up and hold up for 3 secs and then drop the window down just 2 inches and then go back up.

P.s just realised you have the e86 and the above is what I do for the e85.

I'll try that anyway, you never know. They may well have sorted themselves out. As said, the indicators didn't initially flash when locking, but after about 15 mins, they started to.....

That looks like it's been bashed by something heavy! I wouldn't be surprised if that had damaged the battery internals (there's some corrosion showing?). Someone taking out their frustration??
