Bought my first Z4

Just bought my first Z4 - test drove a few and fell in love with this one.
It is a 2.5 SE from 2004.

I don't know much about cars so any tips for me to check things out and look for potential issues would be cool. Got a misted headlight but read that forum and have a few ideas of how I can potentially fix that - silicon gel bag sounds good.
Also I have read about a stubby aerial - may look to get one of those ASAP :)

Welcome aboard! Lovely Z you've got there in the best colour

Toffees fan by any chance? If so you're in good company

Hi & Welcome

With the misted headlight, take the rear cover off, dry it out, depending how misted, either a hairdryer or just a quick drive, replace the rear cover with a new one (about £15 from BMW) as the gasket becomes worn or cricked and doesn't seal properly, hence why the condensation in the first place, silicone will not really work at getting rid of it

Forget the stubby, its slows the car down :poke:

Hi and welcome.

Black roadster is certainly the way to go. Looks great!

Sound aerial advice from RustyZ4 above!

Roadster - well done sir  ..... and a photo but its got the top up  if its not raining (too hard) get the top down and enjoy it :driving:

Welcome to the forum, keep the proper, manly aerial and if it has run flat tyres, ditch them. You will release the real car. :)

Hi :)

Great choice, and with summer hopfully around the corner you'll have a blast no doubt :)

I'd stick with the whippy personally, who wants a short stubby one.... 8)

Welcome to the forum, and well done for a photo in your first post.

As you can see, aerials are a divisive topic on here - try to avoid Coupe v Roadster topics too if you can!

Anyway it looks like you've found a good 'un!

Welcome- lovely tidy z. You want to be careful with silica gel packs in the light as they have destroyed the inners of members lights. Best bet is to dry out and seal.

Thanks for all the great tips already.

I will wait and see about the aerial :) never really thought about changing it before. I am a football coach so will need good reception so may put a digital radio in soon anyway :)

Quick question - the hood opens and closes really well, however, when it opens it doesn't quite click in the clasp, sits about 5mm too high. a gentle press and it goes in easy but doesn't automatically get there. Had the motor checked and it is A1 but maybe the clasp is slightly worn? Should I be concerned?
