Bought my first z4 and now can I ask about remapping?

Some of you were kind enough to help me decide on a Z4. I have bought a 2.0i sport due to me being 22 and cant get insured on anything else. I found a one owner, 08, with 16,000 miles on the clock for 12k. So I am a happy boy.

I would like to know if remapping to gain better performance is a good idea? Is it ok for the car? Do I need to tell my insurer? Does anyone know anyone that could help me improve the car in any way? Thanks guys...

RE the remap question ? i have remapped all of my previous cars that had turbo's , ones that don't show little noticeable difference that the £150/£300 would be better spent on maybe freeing up the breathing of the car ? Even that will show only moderate gain's
Yours being a 2.0 08 with very low miles i would be reluctant to meddle as you will devalue the car unless prepared to return to stock later :wink:
just enjoy it as is & maybe save any funds for the inevitable move up the engine ladder :thumbsup:

Agree - and with an already high insurance premium you insurance company will no doubt put a massive hike on your premium for any remap mod :thumbsdown:

Enjoy what you have :thumbsup:
 
Don't bother remapping......it's not gonna be worth the money on NA 2.0, put it towards next years insurance :thumbsup:
 
Sorry bit boring but i'm with the rest of the guys,dont bother this time wait to you can get insured on something faster next time :thumbsup:
 
You might wanna shop around a bit more regarding insurance....obv everyone has different circumstances and you might do way more miles than me and commute etc.....but the 6 cylinder models are insurable for ppl our age :thumbsup:

Keep car stock, run it a while, then when you desperately need more power get a 3.0 :wink:
 
BMW are pretty good at getting power out of their cars with a decent inlet and exhaust system. This reduces the scope to do much on a smaller 2.0 na engine (Vs say a big turbo diesel)

As others note this will rocket your insurance and if you don't declare it then real issues if you wrap it around a tree.

On the road when we go on runs the A to B speed of a 2.0's is not far off the others, so enjoy as is, learn to drive what you have well and save pennies for down the road.
