I take it by the no pics so far your are too ashamed to be seen in a tin top :evil:

You used to be able to post pics from an iphone straight to this forum with tapatalk... but thats disabled on this forum at the moment.. so will need to be something like photobucket.. but you can upload pics from our iphone with iphone app and then copy the link address to upload it here.

Right, First day with the Z4M and its snowing, lol. I've learned more about driving today than I have in my 10 year driving history, hehe.

Anyways, lovely car, nice and smooth, great feel but getting used to the gear box is the biggest challenge.

I have noticed when I depess the clutch in lower gears a noise, chatter/rattle occurs, is this normal if not is it detrimental and could it cause any damage?
 
If it rattles when you have the clutch down then its unusual and I would guess at knacked dual mass flywheel..

If the clutch is out the main shaft and lay shaft bearing can rattle.. Usually most prominent when you turn off the engine with clutch out..

Is this a major issue or a liveable one? Mine does this (sorry not an ///M) and so did my previous E46. I've just go used to it being the norm.

Sorry for the thread highjack OP. Looking forward to seeing some pics. Coupe is the best option by far :thumbsup:
 
Shouldn't rattle with clutch down. As Z4M-2006 says this is most likely your flywheel, which I would get looked at/replaced. Whilst you're there you may as well do the clutch.

Congrats on the new car. You'll love it. Interesting you come from the E89 and 'back' a model. Can't be many out there that have done that; even for an M.
 
I think by the sound it would be best to let a specialist have a listen to the noise and get his diagnosis, hopefully nothing but we shall see! Thank you for the help and advice. :thumbsup:

Quick update. Had the car now 5 days and I'm dead impressed, I bought it as a weekend run about but can't seem to keep it in the garage! Its such an amazing car and could see it becoming my daily driver as well as a complete hoon when you want it to be.

As with most new owners, the clutch has being an issue, but today, iv finally figured it out!

Rev it high in 1st and drop it into second, the change is absolutly seamless and boy does the car pull. Basically drive it like an M and it works, lol!

However this doesn't solve %90 of the time when I'm trying to drive smoothly round town and kangaroo'ing into 2nd, hehe.

The joys of ownership, wouldn't have it any other way, amazing car. :thumbsup:

Aye the clutch takes some getting used to, it's surprisingly nice to have a 3 series with a feather weight clutch to take out now and again! But I've noticed I only experience the kangaroo'ing when the sport button is enabled, that sharpens the throttle response and preps the car for high rev gear changes... can't say I've kangaroo'd with that switched off. I had it confirmed that's all the sport button does, so now I rarely have it on unless I feel like really giving it the beans! :driving:
 
I know, I know, I'm so sorry! :cry:

I wanted to wait, I'm getting the car detailed a week tomorrow then getting the alloys re furbed. I will take pictures throughout the process then set up a new post in the detailing section with many, many pictures :thumbsup:

How's about this for now, it's all I have!
