Greetings! I'll be spending a few days in Boston for work early next week and I was wondering if anyone here could suggest a nice place to grab some drinks and meet up with some old friends. I've not been to Boston in a few years so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Depends...what do you like?

For some of the best pastries and deserts go to Mike's Pastries in the North End (Hanover St)
For a nice casual lunch, stroll through Quincy Market, (if you don't mind tons of people everywhere)
If you want to be seen and the weather is nice, try lunch on Newbury st (Stephanie's is propbably the best place)
For great Italian Food, also go to the North End, but for less money and people Papa Razzi near Copley is a cool Bargain.
As far as drinks go, there are bars everwhere.
For more unique restaurants, try the south end.
For seafood, there's a great place near Quincy Market, but the name is escaping me right now.

If you have any more specific questions, feel free to PM me. I've lived in Boston for a while.

Dunno...Never heard of it. There's a great seafood shack for fried food in peabody called Seawitch. :)

A great place to start is http://www.bostonmagazine.com/best_of/index.html

I always thought 'No names' was one of the best places for fish ... is it still there?

OK...so, one of my buddies called me today out of the blue and wanted to go to No Name, since he'd been there a few years back and hadn't been there in a while. At first I was like, sure why not. Then I read some reviews online, and was skeptical, some love it, some think it's gross.

I have to admit, my wife and I love a good seafood shack, but No Name is horrible. I got a bad vibe when I started looking around and most of the servers there looked like they could have been living on the street. Then the food showed up, and it was pretty tasteless. Then one of the servers bumped into my wifes chair pretty hard and didn't appologize, then did it to me. Finally one of the dudes spit on me while yelling to one of his boys accross the way. So, for 4 people and 5 dishes, we spent 80 dollars, so I can't even say it was cheep.

Do not go to No Name Restaurant. It may be right on the pier, but it's aboslute crap. Apparently it has seen better days, but as far as I'm concerned it was one of the worst places I've ever eaten, hope none of us get sick.
