Bosch vs BMW Parts

Looking around for an Indy to carry out a Service on the Zed, spoke to one today who says he doesn't use genuine BMW parts, he uses Bosch parts. Anybody have any comments on Bosch parts over BMW parts?

He mentioned that customer's can request BMW parts if they want (I assume the price then goes up), but I was just wondering what all the experts on this Forum thought.

is the car under warranty? if not does it need BMW specific parts. bosch is a pretty well known brand... id be interested to know too as ive just had a great quote to do the inspection 1 service.

No it's not under warranty and the last service was not a dealer either. I'm not worried about warranty, I'm just wondering if its worth spending a bit more and getting BMW parts, however as far as I know, Bosch parts are pretty good too.

What sort of price did you get for Inspection 1 (and where from)?

its a bit awkward to explain, when i bought the car the place i bought it from did what they called an engine service which basically changed the fluids and filters and plugs. i knew the car would be due its inspection 1 service soon after i bought it but i wasnt too bothered. so ive been quoted to essentially finish off the inspection 1(which they said was essentially visual inspections and a pollen filter), do the brake fluid change, reset the computer to stop beeping at me and i also asked if they could check over the car and give me any oppinions on what they think may need to be done. its a place in liverpool called the gemini centrewhich came recomended by a friend who used to get his vans/mini's serviced there.

they said 2 hrs labour £40/hr and whatever parts that were needed.

Thanks everyone. Does anyone know with any certainty that Bosch make the BMW parts, or is this all assumption?

Would be interesting to find out.....

Certainly made the hydraulic pump unit that failed on mine, and many others  , Series 1 that affected the operation of the DSC function and brought out a repair module at the request of BMW so I would guess they make many other parts for BMW cars.

Bosch are OEM on BMW, Mercedes , Audi and VW......Ford, Opel, Vauxhall , Skoda ......be quicker to list who they arent OE for TBH

Just a thought .....While serviceing your Z shouldnt present a problem for any decent techie......a techie not used to BMWs may not spot a future concern? :?

Yeah you could be right but BMW are just ridiculously priced for their Services, and to be honest, the (customer) service I have had from some BMW dealers really makes me not want to use them at all.

good point. this place came on the recomendation of a couple of friends who have taken their mini/bmws there. the guy sounded knowledgable enough when he was talking to me but i guess anyone could be like that. it was the recomendations that i listened to. i like to know whats involved in these things so probably ask too many questions anyway.
