Boot won’t open and windows down

Hi all. I have a 2013 z4, I had the soft close mechanism wires fixed on the passenger side, BUT what he failed to tell me is that he only did a temporary fix, when I dropped the car off to be sold they rang me and said that the windows won’t go up. Anyway, now the boot won’t open, the windows won’t go up - and the door mirrors are stuck in the upright position. Have the wires come loose and arced and shorted something ? Or is it a different problem, HOW do I get into the boot as there isn’t an emergency release button anywhere which is Bizzare.

It sounds like micro switch or hall sensor fault or possibly a broken wire in the roof.
To open the boot you can use the pin 12 hack from the fuse box detailed here.

Thanks for the heads up. Would a roof sensor stop the door mirrors from unfolding when I unlock the car ? Do the windows and mirrors run off the same fuse ?

If the windows and mirrors won’t move you may have goosed the FRM footwell module..a decent code reader will tell you..

Got the mirrors down by pressing the button. DOH, I think I can hear with the window drop noise when I close the door, so assuming it’s not a fuse. I just desperately need to get into the boot.

When my right side roof wire broke recently, my boot wouldn't open and my windows wouldn't work either...as soon as the roof shell wire was replaced everything worked again.

Boot opening with pin 12 is an awkward pain in the bum to do but easy enough

Managed to get the boot open using the 12 pin. But the wires on the soft close are fine. So I’m
Stumped. The roof seems to be securely closed, but the windows won’t budge. Anyone know of a tool o can get to open the roof manually.

Can you operate the rear baby windows or all 4 windows stuck down?

If the rears operate then that’s classic FRM failure..

Nope, none of the windows will close, the roof button is flashing red. The roof is securely closed. No loose panels, so it has to be something to do with the final stage of operation I’m guessing.

The fact that the button is flashing red means that as far as the car is concerned the roof cycle has not finished and it is still waiting for confirmation.

Yes, this.
Because the roof closing sequence hasn't finished (according to the car) it won't close the windows.

If closing the windows is part 'z' of the sequence, the car is being told that part 'x' or 'y', etc hasn't finished. And because a sequence hasn't finished (and can't for some reason) the light flashes and you get the 'bong of doom'.

Need to get a decent code reader on it to find out what the car thinks is wrong.

When I press the open or close roof button I can hear a clicking sound coming from the boot area. So does this mean there’s a sticky solenoid in that area ?

I managed to borrow a launch scanner and commanded the front windows to go up and down , the passenger one worked , but the drivers side just clicked. I even put power direct to the motor but again it just clicked. Is the motor goosed ans could this be the problem with the roof ?

Yup if the windows when commanded down don’t move then the roof won’t move..

Looks like you need a new window motor..unusual ..

Put a new window motor on and it’s still clicking when I command the window down with my scanner. Passenger is still going up and down off the command , but not off the switch.

Fuse?

If it was a fuse would the window still click when I do the command on the scanner. As for the roof being securely closed I was just assuming as there’s no loose panels.
