Boot warning light

I first noticed the boot light was out, then the soft closing mechanism appears to have stopped working. Seen some comments about water ingress and broken cables, I’ve replaced the bulb but still doesn’t work so assuming it’s electrical and probably the cables. Any help and guidance and welcome?
 
Have a good search on here as I’m sure it be read about a bad wire connection into a connector, the wire has been incorrectly stripped at the factory
