Boot Spoiler on or off - Opinions needed!

I think I'm getting closer than ever to having one.
At least I feel I won't be totally ridiculed if I'm seen out and about.
It gets more complicated though when like others you think it looks better with the whole modified rear end, ££££££££££££.
Also the one angle I'd not seen up until now is the one where it protrudes out further to the rear than the boot lid.
Perhaps it's just my OCD?

It's not so much the ££££££ (well, it is but) it's the sheer effort involved, unless you can afford to get someone else to do it all for you.

It does protrude from boot lid but that's one of the things that sells it for me, I have OCD too and I find the Zed a little top/front heavy so extending the rear that little bit gives it a bit more symmetry in my opinion. As I said in the first post though I was unsure about putting it on before the mods and it ended up in the garage for a year, make of that what you will.

Having said that I wasn't expecting so much love for the spoiler from everybody that's commented, and that's from some people who's opinions I respect having been a long term lurker on this site prior to growing the cojones to open my ride to criticism.

Much better without, the roadster already has a beautiful duck tail and this just ruins it. When was the last time you saw a CSL with a spoiler (other than race versions)...?

When did the CSL become the devine and definitive dictoral aspiration above every BMW owner's individual taste and expression? I own a 2.0l four-pot Roady, I ain't trying to be a CSL....... Jus' sayin' :poke:

btw. I'm not 100% sold on it, you like it you like it, you don't you don't. Imitation ain't all that.

It's a yes from biased me:

I'm a fan of the mud flaps, I was umming and ahhing over them just this weekend looking for someone who's actually got them fitted

Mine came with the mudflats fitted. To be honest I'm none too sure whether they actually do anything. I had hoped that the front ones would prevent road rash at the back of the side sills, but they don't. Also, one of my rear ones doesn't fit quite as well as it should.

Before you let mudflats become your lifetime's dream, be aware that they don't seem to be readily available anymore.

If mine didn't already have them I wouldn't be lusting for them.

Haha they wouldn't fit my back bumper anyway. It wasn't so much the mudflaps as such, there's a larger than personally acceptable gap between the rear wheels and my modified rear bumper that I can't afford to fill with more wheel and I was looking for a semi-distraction / solution because I'm too OCD to let things lie. But on reflection I came to the conclusion that even if they did fit they would probably do the complete opposite of what I intended.

I couldn't resist the comment since I'd been looking just this weekend and I was drawn to the fact that yours is the first I've seen with them fitted. I doubt you've had many people so enthusiastically complementary about your mudflaps, and everyone likes a complement. I'm not a mudflap geek, honestly!

You asked for opinions, "jus' sayin' "...

I don't disagree, I just question the relevance of comparison to a specific model. "Much better without" is an opinion, "when was the last time you saw a CSL..." is an assumption that the collective narrative is to imitate something seen elsewhere. If that is the case I should slap an M badge on the back too and hope nobody notices the difference

imo if you like it then who cares what others think :D

Haha I'm just being pedantic, it's all fun and games :fuelfire:

The comments have been pleasantly surprising, I guess that's why we have places like this to share and debate our opinions. It keeps things interesting.

When you put it that way I can see it.
Symmetry is soothing to our complaint!!
It's now firmly on my long list of mods to get done over the winter.
Cheers.

Off but then i could be the reason the question was asked. Anyone else got one up for grabs.

Personally I think they look terrible and an afterthought, as if purchased at Halfords and stuck on, but it's just a personal preference
That said it's the least offensive of the spoiler options available

Id definitely go with the aero spoiler , it takes the eye away from the bumper which whilst i applaud your desire for individuality can't help seeing a ruined Z  sorry but just not for me :(

bugger, i was gonna say better off, and i wold have taken it off your hands save it kicking around yur garage

on

here's mine sorry for the horrible pics.

I love it. some don't....

basically ductail on steriods... mimics the stock boot line just in carbon
